Ok one of the largest issues with TMJ is that your head and neck are misaligned. Your jaw wants to be level and if your head is slightly tipped, it will cause TMJ because of the compensation. A mouth guard will NEVER correct TMJ.
I recommend that you see a chiropractor who specializes in occiput (pronounced oxi-put) adjustments. You will have to ask because many do not do this adjustment. However, even after the adjustment, it will take a while for the jaw to return to level. Once it returns to level, the TMJ pain will go away.
I really wish you the best. If you have any further questions ,please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope this information helps.
